Once upon a time, some guy had an idea for a novel writing month. 💡 Which became an experiment. That became an event. Which attracted a community, and launched a non-profit…

And then it all blew up. 🤯 Spectacularly.

We’re not here to talk about any of that. We’re not related to any of that.

Except that original nugget of an idea: That a month is a sensible amount of time for an ordinary person with a regular job and/or other adult responsibilities to commit to focusing on creative writing. And that writing a novel is a goal to be proud of (whether it’s any good or not).

As for the rest of it – well, let’s put all of that in the rearview mirror, shall we? After all, what’s more enticing (and terrifying) than a blank page?

If you’re the kind of writer who wants encouragement, inspiration & support – but hates being told what, when, or how to write – then you’ve found the right place.

At least for 30 days or so…

Let’s start your novel writing month.

Pick a month

Is November a nightmare for you to tackle a novel? Then pick any month you want, my dude. Start on January 1st or May the 4th or the next 30 days. Go crazy.

Set a goal

I mean, the website is novel writing month, so it should probably be related to writing a novel. And ideally fit in 30 days. But like, I’m not your mother.

Do the thing

This is not a community. There will be no write-ins, forums or fundraising, or literally anything except opening. the. draft. and. writing. the. damn. book.

Get in losers, we’re writing a novel!
